
MVP Track Club’s Kelly Ann Beckford and Arkansas’ Tyrice Taylor won the respective female and male 800m titles on Saturday’s third day of the JAAA/Puma National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Beckford produced a personal best 2:00.23 to dethrone 10-time national champion Natoya Goule-Toppin who ran 2:00.97 for second while Atlanta Track Club’s Gabrielle Wilkinson was third in 2:01.75.
On the men’s side, Arkansas’ Tyrice Taylor produced a personal best 1:45.26 to claim his first national title.
National record holder Navasky Anderson was second in 1:46.03 while Virginia Tech’s Dylan DeCambre added to his 1500m title with 1:47.56 for bronze.
In the field, the University of Oklahoma’s Ralford Mullings, who claimed gold at the NCAA Championships, won his first national title in the men’s discus with 65.82m ahead of Reckless Control’s 2019 World Championship silver medallist Fedrick Dacres (63.54m) and Legacy Athletics’ Chad Wright (62.53m).
Elsewhere, Adidas’ World Indoor championship bronze medallist Carey McLeod claimed top spot in the men’s long jump with 8.16m ahead of Sprintec’s Shawn-D Thompson (7.84m) and Nikaoli Williams (7.82m).
