Adelle Tracey and Dylan DeCambre delivered commanding performances to claim the women’s and men’s 1500m titles, respectively, as they proved themselves a cut above the rest in contrasting but equally decisive fashion on day two of the JAAA/Puma National Senior Championships at the National Stadium on Friday.
Running with poise and authority, Tracey, 32, turned in a smooth and composed display to clock 4:17.80. She comfortably fended off Gabrielle Wilkinson of the Atlanta Track Club (4:19.30), while Jodian Walker of Pureluv Running Team rounded out the podium in 5:51.60.
The Hoka-sponsored athlete's performance, executed with clinical precision, sent a message that she remains one of the nation’s premier middle-distance specialists.
In the men’s equivalent, American-born DeCambre of Virginia Tech, who is eligible to represent Jamaica, was a class apart. The 20-year-old showcased a blend of raw strength and smart pacing to break away from the field and stop the clock in 3:46.59.
Amiri Whittle (3:52.72) and Under Armour's Navasky Anderson (4:06.45) were second and third.
Still with much scope for improvement, DeCambre’s victory highlighted his emergence as a serious contender in Jamaica’s middle-distance cadre, a space that is quietly gaining momentum behind the nation’s sprinting dominance.
