Reggae Boy Amari’i Bell is embracing a new chapter in his career after signing a two-year deal with Charlton Athletic, following his departure from Luton Town.
The 31-year-old Jamaican international joins the newly promoted Championship outfit on a free transfer and is eager to make an impact as he reunites with manager Nathan Jones, under whom he previously thrived during a successful stint at Luton.
"It’s a fresh start for me and one that I’m looking forward to as Charlton are on the way back up. It’s another chance to work with Nathan, who is a great manager and knows how to get the best out of his players, and he certainly does for me. It’s going to be a great time," Bell told the club website.
Bell joined Luton in 2021 and played a pivotal role in the club’s historic promotion to the Premier League two years later. He featured in 21 top-flight matches during their brief stay in the league, and remained a consistent presence in the squad as they returned to the Championship, but they eventually suffered relegation to League One last season.
Having earned 28 caps for Jamaica, Bell continues to be an integral figure for the Reggae Boyz, as he recently scored against Panama in the Concacaf Gold Cup. His international experience and top-tier pedigree make him a valuable addition to Charlton’s defensive ranks.
Charlton boss Jones, who worked closely with Bell during their time at Luton, expressed his excitement at the reunion.
"Amari’i’s someone I know well. I signed him at Luton, and he did fantastically well for me. He knows how I want to play, he has Championship and Premier League experience, and he’s a wonderful athlete with pace and power. He will add to the group, and we’re really delighted because left-sided centre-halves are very difficult to come by," Jones shared.
With Charlton eyeing a strong return to the Championship, Bell’s leadership and athleticism will be key assets as he begins this new journey at The Valley, where he joins Reggae Boyz teammates Kaheim Dixon, Karoy Anderson, and Tyreece Campbell.
