Bermuda Olympic Association President Peter Dunne and Chef de Mission David Thomas believe the 24-member squad for the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay embodies the island’s sporting future, as they represent a generation poised to elevate Bermudian excellence on the international stage.

The team for the August 9–23 Games in Asuncion, Paraguay, comprises athletes all under the age of 23, who will compete across seven sporting disciplines—archery, athletics, cycling, golf, rugby sevens, sailing, and swimming.

This year’s event marks the second edition of the Junior Pan Am Games, following the inaugural competition in Cali, Colombia, in 2021, where Bermuda’s Kaden Hopkins made history with a silver medal in the Cycling Time Trial.

"This team represents the future of Bermudian sport. These athletes have shown tremendous commitment in their training and competition, and we’re confident they will represent Bermuda with distinction," Thomas declared.

Dunne echoed the sentiment as he described the team as “emerging talents” whose selection is not only a reward for their dedication but a significant step in their athletic development.

"We are incredibly proud of these young athletes who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and talent. The Junior Pan American Games provide an invaluable opportunity for our emerging athletes to gain international experience and compete against the best young talent in the Americas," Dunne noted.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from several athletes. Archers Jaydon Roberts and Robin Selley are both returning with high hopes.

"This is my second Games, and I’m returning stronger, sharper, and ready to surpass my past self,” said Roberts.

Sailor Nicole Stovell is also eager to compete.

"I’m excited to take part in the Junior Pan Ams this August to experience sailing in Paraguay for the first time and grow closer with my sport and my competitors," Stovell noted.

Rugby standout Brandon Sangster sees it as a major moment.

"The boys and I are extremely excited to play against some of the best in our age group. It is an incredible opportunity to be able to represent Bermuda at an event as large and prestigious as the Junior Pan Am Games," Sangster said.
